When Obama was president he had bent over backwards to prove to the world that humans make mistakes, sometimes huge stupid mistakes. I had voted for Romney, not because I thought he would be a good president, I just thought he would be better than Obama. We didn’t have much of a choice on who to vote for – it was Laurel or Hardy.
America was probably better off with Obama then Romney. And Obama, no matter how horrible he is, he is better than McCain, would have been. McCain is a duplicate of Malcom X, but without the intelligence and courage.
Obama does not seem to be that bright, but Romney, being a devout Mormon, believes that he will someday become a god. I wonder how he can think that, I mean, he was unable to take the presidency away from a Muslim, and he thinks he can become a god?
Since we are on that subject, tomorrow we will take a deeper look into…
1 John 2
Fellowship Maintained by Christ’s Advocacy
1 My little children, these things write I unto you, that ye sin not. And if any man sin, we have an advocate with the Father, Jesus Christ the righteous:
“Advocate” – the Greek word refers to someone who speaks in court in behave of a defendant.
In other words, Jesus is our advocate and he defend us before the judge (God).
“The righteous” – in God’s court the defender must be, and is, sinless.
2 And he is the propitiation for our sins: and not for ours only, but also for the sins of the whole world.
“Propitiation for our sins” – propitiation refers to turning away God’s wrath. God’s holiness demands punishment for man’s sin. God, therefore, out of love, sent His Son to make substitutionary atonement for the believer’s sin.
In this way the Father’s wrath is propitiated (satisfied, appeased); His wrath against the Christian’s sin has been turned away and directed toward Christ.
We have to wonder, why would God do all this when since He’s God and can do anything He chooses? I think I know God rather well, but not good enough to understand why He does certain things, such as this.
Yet, I do have an idea and here it is. I know God is fair, more than fair, and He doesn’t want a family of robots, but one of people that have the choice to love Him or despise Him, so He gives us freewill.
Those that don’t believe in Jesus or those that do believe in Jesus but lives their evil ways despise God and will spend eternity in hell. Those that believe in Jesus and live life the way He did love God and will spend eternity in heaven with Him.
3 And hereby we do know that we know him, if we keep his commandments.
4 He that saith, I know him, and keepeth not his commandments, is a liar, and the truth is not in him.
5 But whoso keepeth his word, in him verily is the love of God perfected: hereby know we that we are in him.
This is another verse that people would like to use to say that they will become a god, i.e., “the love of God perfected.”
6 He that saith he abideth in him ought himself also so to walk, even as he walked.
7 Brethren, I write no new commandment unto you, but an old commandment which ye had from the beginning. The old commandment is the word which ye have heard from the beginning.
8 Again, a new commandment I write unto you, which thing is true in him and in you: because the darkness is past, and the true light now shineth.
9 He that saith he is in the light, and hateth his brother, is in darkness even until now.
10 He that loveth his brother abideth in the light, and there is none occasion of stumbling in him.
11 But he that hateth his brother is in darkness, and walketh in darkness, and knoweth not whither he goeth, because that darkness hath blinded his eyes.
Hating someone is not a sin, we cannot control our feelings, but acting in a hateful way is a sin.
12 I write unto you, little children, because your sins are forgiven you for his name’s sake.
13 I write unto you, fathers, because ye have known him that is from the beginning. I write unto you, young men, because ye have overcome the wicked one. I write unto you, little children, because ye have known the Father.
14 I have written unto you, fathers, because ye have known him that is from the beginning. I have written unto you, young men, because ye are strong, and the word of God abideth in you, and ye have overcome the wicked one.
15 Love not the world, neither the things that are in the world. If any man love the world, the love of the Father is not in him.
“World” – not the world of people or the created world, but the realm of sin in the world, which is controlled by Satan and organized against God and righteousness.
16 For all that is in the world, the lust of the flesh, and the lust of the eyes, and the pride of life, is not of the Father, but is of the world.
This is how the devil tricked Eve.
17 And the world passeth away, and the lust thereof: but he that doeth the will of God abideth forever.
God’s children will go to heaven and the New Agers, the perverts, the Oprah’s and the like will bed down in hell.
18 Little children, it is the last time: and as ye have heard that Antichrist shall come, even now are there many Antichrists; whereby we know that it is the last time.
“Last time” – meaning that this is everyone’s last chance to get right with Jesus, because he Jesus returns it is the end of the world.
I am uncertain on when Jesus’ final return will be, nor does it matter to me. I know, without question, that Jesus will be here on the day that He has chosen and afterwards I will be with Him for eternity. That is all that matters.
Some say that the Rapture is not Jesus’ Second Coming:
“For the Lord himself shall descend from heaven with a shout, with the voice of the archangel, and with the trump of God: and the dead in Christ shall rise first:
Then we which are alive and remain shall be caught up together with them in the clouds, to meet the Lord in the air: and so shall we ever be with the Lord” (1 Thess 4:16-17).
Since Jesus does not set foot on earth some believe that this would not be His Second Coming, but the beginning of the seven year tribulation, and after those seven years the Second Coming and the end of the world comes.
The Book of Matthews says that the seven year tribulation will begin and sometimes during it will be the rapture:
“Immediately after the tribulation of those days shall the sun be darkened, and the moon shall not give her light, and the stars shall fall from heaven, and the powers of the heavens shall be shaken:
And then shall appear the sign of the Son of man in heaven: and then shall all the tribes of the earth mourn, and they shall see the Son of man coming in the clouds of heaven with power and great glory.
And he shall send his angels with a great sound of a trumpet, and they shall gather together his elect from the four winds, from one end of heaven to the other” (Matt 24:29-31).
So it could be possible that Christians will experience the first 3½ years of the tribulation and then the Rapture occurs, and then comes the “Great Tribulation” which is the last 3½ years of the seven year tribulation. This is when Satan makes his appearance (Rev 13),
Nobody knows for certain, and don’t believe anyone if they say they know (Mk 13:32) and like I said, it doesn’t matter. We don’t have to try and figure it out or anything for that matter. I learned back in 2009 that life is so simple and easy if you let Jesus run your life for you.
Life can still be frustrating and disappointing, but it’s a walk in the park when Jesus has the reigns.
19 They went out from us, but they were not of us; for if they had been of us, they would no doubt have continued with us: but they went out, that they might be made manifest that they were not all of us.
20 But ye have an unction from the Holy One, and ye know all things.
“Unction” – or “anointing,” i.e., the Holy Ghost.
“Holy One” – Jesus Christ or the Father.
21 I have not written unto you because ye know not the truth, but because ye know it, and that no lie is of the truth.
22 Who is a liar but he that denieth that Jesus is the Christ? He is Antichrist, that denieth the Father and the Son.
23 Whosoever denieth the Son, the same hath not the Father: (but) he that acknowledgeth the Son hath the Father also.
24 Let that therefore abide in you, which ye have heard from the beginning. If that which ye have heard from the beginning shall remain in you, ye also shall continue in the Son, and in the Father.
25 And this is the promise that he hath promised us, even eternal life.
26 These things have I written unto you concerning them that seduce you.
27 But the anointing which ye have received of him abideth in you, and ye need not that any man teach you: but as the same anointing teacheth you of all things, and is truth, and is no lie, and even as it hath taught you, ye shall abide in him.
28 And now, little children, abide in him; that, when he shall appear, we may have confidence, and not be ashamed before him at his coming.
29 If ye know that he is righteous, ye know that every one that doeth righteousness is born of him.
Can We Become Gods?
I don’t know how many different religions or beliefs that people believe in that say that in time, as long as you do things as needed, some will be able to become a god.
The Mormons have the cockamamie idea that they can become a god and the New Age theory is more bizarre than that, which I will show in a bit.
Here is a verse that a lot people twist:
“Beloved, now are we the sons of God, and it doth not yet appear what we shall be: but we know that, when he shall appear, we shall be like him; for we shall see him as he is” (1 Jn 3:2).
The catchall is “we shall be like him.” Well, since Jesus is God and we’ll be like Him then we’ll be gods, right? Not so. We are “created” spirits, nothing more.
The “we shall be like him,” phrase means that we’ll have the faith that He has, we’ll have the loving heart that He has, and we’ll be holy like He is.
I can’t imagine being able to love “everybody” like Jesus does. I don’t think I could handle such a heart, I mean, then I would love Obama, Oprah, Gates, Warren, and the like. Since I’m human, if I had a heart like Jesus I think I would truly go bonkers.
As I said above, we are spirits and that is what we will always be. We don’t know what bodies we may have, but we will always be “created” spirits.
The non-believers will also always be “created” spirits, but while we are enjoying God and life, they’ll be whining and crying in hell for eternity like burnt toast.
The Mormons, like the Catholics, have their own Bible and the scriptures in their Bible declare that the ultimate goal of a Mormon is to become a god and procreate for all eternity. For example:
The Doctrine & Covenants states:
And again, verily I say unto you, if a man marry a wife by my word, which is my law, and by the new and everlasting covenant, …Ye shall come forth in the first resurrection; …and shall inherit thrones, kingdoms, principalities, and powers, dominions, …and they shall pass by the angels, and the gods, which are set there, to their exaltation and glory in all things, as hath been sealed upon their heads, which glory shall be a fulness and a continuation of the seeds forever and ever.
Then shall they be gods, because they have no end; therefore shall they be from everlasting to everlasting, because they continue; then shall they be above all, because all things are subject unto them. Then shall they be gods, because they have all power, and the angels are subject unto them.
Verily, verily, I say unto you, except ye abide my law ye cannot attain to this glory.
For strait is the gate, and narrow the way that leadeth unto the exaltation and continuation of the lives, and few there be that find it, because ye receive me not in the world neither do ye know me (Doctrine and Covenants 132:19-22).
Joseph Fielding Smith, Jr. (July 19, 1876 – July 2, 1972) was the tenth president of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints (LDS Church) from 1970 until his death in 1972.
He was the son of Joseph F. Smith, who was the sixth president of the LDS Church, and grandson of Hyrum Smith, brother of LDS Church founder Joseph Smith.
Joseph Smith taught a plurality of gods, and that man by obeying the commandments of God and keeping the whole law will eventually reach the power and exaltation by which he also will become a god.
Joseph Fielding Smith Jr., Doctrines of Salvation, Vol.1, p.69 – p.70:
THE STRAITNESS OF THE WAY. Mortality is the testing or proving ground for exaltation to find out who among the children of God are worthy to become Gods themselves, and the Lord has informed us that “few there be that find it.
Joseph Fielding Smith Jr., Doctrines of Salvation, Vol.1, p.97 – p.98:
ALL EXALTED MEN BECOME GODS. To believe that Adam is a god should not be strange to any person who accepts the Bible. When Jesus was accused of blasphemy because he claimed to be the Son of God, he answered the Jews:
Is it not written in your law, I said, Ye are gods? If he called them gods, unto whom the word of God came, and the scripture cannot be broken; Say ye of him, whom the Father hath sanctified, and sent into the world, Thou blasphemest; because I said, I am the Son of God?
Joseph Fielding Smith Jr., Doctrines of Salvation, Vol.2, p.9:
What is eternal life? It is to have “a continuation of the seeds forever and ever.” No one receives eternal life except those who receive the exaltation. Eternal life is the greatest gift of God; immortality is not.
There are many more foolish scriptures, you can read some of them here.
The New Age
Here are a few beliefs of the New Age:
#1 – Jesus was not and is not the only Christ, nor is he God.
The New Ager understands Christ as a reincarnated avatar, Messiah, or messenger sent from the “hierarchy” to give the living on earth spiritually advanced revelation. The New Age accepts that Buddha, Mohammed, Confucius, Jesus, and many others were “Christ”.
#2 – God is impersonal, cosmic, a God of energy forces.
All things, including man, constitute, the ONE – called Universal Mind, The Source, Universal Self, Cosmic Consciousness, Universal Presence, or The Force – your Inner Voice, Higher Self, or Intuition.
God is an impersonal energy; force, immanent in all things (including man). God can be referred to either as she or he, mother or father, god or goddess. Do not be deceived! New Agers do not mean God or Jesus Christ of the Bible.
Most New Age teachers hold that Mother Earth, the sun, the moon, and the stars, indeed all of Nature can be worshipped as God.
#3 – Man is himself God, for he consists of and is the creator of “the forces.” Man already exercises the powers inherent in his divinity and needs only to awaken to this fact.
New Ageism embraces supernaturalism, but ascribes it to the creature, not the Creator (as in Rom 1:22-24).
They flaunt the “I am God” concept as it naturally appeals to man’s ego and thirst for power, an appeal as old as the Garden of Eden.
Satan promised Eve: “Ye shall be as God.”
#4 – Man should seek and accept spiritual instruction and direction directly from the spirit world.
The lure of the occult is almost always on the basis of acquiring knowledge or power. [Neil T. Anderson, The Bondage Breaker, pg. 114] We crave a knowledge that is esoteric, not normally available to the ordinary person.
We want to experience a power that is spiritual and supernatural in origin. People don’t seem to want to hear what God has to say, they want information and direction from someone else who “knows”; a psychic, a channeler, a palm-reader, a card-reader, Ouija boards, astrology, magic charming, automatic writing, or the spirit of a dead friend of relative.
In a sense these are God-given desire, but they are intended to be fulfilled by the knowledge and power which comes from God. However, Satan is busy trying to pass off his counterfeits for God’s knowledge and power as the real thing. If he can get us to accept his versions of knowledge and power, he has a foothold in our life.
#5 – All religions and religious teachings lead to the same goal. All are equally of merit.
Satan’s primary tactic in opposing God is not to foster atheism but religion; not to prove there is no God but to be worshipped as God. “I have not come to found a new religion,”
Lord Maitreya says. “I have come to teach the art of Self-realization,” something which is neither an ideology nor a religion, but benefits people of all religions and those who have none. “I come to you ‘like a thief in the night.'”
He tells us, “so that you will not become too excited. Slowly, as you become aware, you can ‘digest’ what is ‘eaten’. In awareness you will know Me. In ‘isms’ you will fight against me”.
#6 – The “ancient wisdom” of Babylon, Egypt and Greece – not the Bible – is the basis of all truth.
Vice President Albert Gore in his book Earth in the Balance; Ecology and the Human Spirit, reveals himself as a person who believes we should have a “mother goddess” that we can worship.
He points back to ancient religions and Hinduism and says that they have something good in their worship of “mother earth,” and claims that our modern slogan should be the worship of “mother earth”; that man and nature are one, and that God is part of nature, and nature is part of God.
On pages 258 through 259 of his book, he shows where he departed from the Baptist faith and entered in to the New Age Religion.
Gore also says:
The richness and diversity of our religious tradition throughout history is a spiritual resource long ignored by people of faith, who are often afraid to open their minds to teachings first offered outside their own system of belief.
This Pan-religious perspective may prove especially important where our global civilizations responsibility for the earth is concerned.
Native American Religions for instance offer a rich tapestry of ideas about our relationship to the earth. [Al Gore, Earth In the Balance; Ecology and the Human Spirit, Houghton Mifflin Company, 1992.]
I remember Gore had also said, and it’s in his book, that Texas, Oklahoma and Kansas is the main cause for the thinning of the Ozone. It is due to all the methane gas that the cows let out.
I have also heard that Gore had once been at a museum in Philadelphia, looking at the paintings of George Washington and Abraham Lincoln, and he asked the employee there who they were.
One might wonder, “How did he ever become Vice President? But then when you realize that Bush was president at the time it makes complete sense.
#7 – Sin and evil do not exist. Peace and love are the ultimate realities.
New Agers deny the existence of a hell (Gehenna fire) and a judgment. They also deny that sin and evil exist. God (The universe) is alleged to be beyond good and evil.
The Bible does not teach multiple gods, eternal marriage, or endless children?
There is only one God, who has eternally existed:
“Ye are my witnesses, saith the LORD, and my servant whom I have chosen: that ye may know and believe me, and understand that I am he: before me there was no God formed, neither shall there be after me.
I, even I, am the LORD; and beside me there is no savior” (Is 43:10-11).
“Thus saith the LORD the King of Israel, and his redeemer the LORD of hosts; I am the first, and I am the last; and beside me there is no God” (Is 44:6).
“Look unto me, and be ye saved, all the ends of the earth: for I am God, and there is none else” (Is 45:22).
“The Bible never equates eternal life with marriage and parenthood. It is promised to all who have come to Christ for salvation.
He that hath the Son hath life, and he that hath not the Son of God hath not life” (1 Jn 5:12).
“But they which shall be accounted worthy to obtain that world, and the resurrection from the dead, neither marry, nor are given in marriage:
Neither can they die anymore; for they are equal unto the angels; and are the children of God, being the children of the resurrection” (Lk 20: 35-36).
We are not children of God by procreation but by spiritual adoption.
“But as many as received him, to them gave he power to become the sons of God, even to them that believe on his name” (Jn 1:12).
“For ye are all the children of God by faith in Christ Jesus” (Gal 3:26).
It is a ridiculous thought that we will become gods. Satan had the same idea and he’s much more powerful than us, but look what happened to him – Is 14:12-17; Eze 28:3-19.
“For thou shalt worship no other god: for the LORD, whose name is Jealous, is a jealous God” (Ex 34:14).
“(For the LORD thy God is a jealous God among you) lest the anger of the LORD thy God be kindled against thee, and destroy thee from off the face of the earth” (Deut 6:15).
“I am the LORD: that is my name: and my glory will I not give to another, neither my praise to graven images” (Is 42:8).
